My name is Capt. Paul M. Grogan, and alongside my wife, Jennifer, we have built a life in Beverly Hills, Florida, rooted in hard work, faith, and a refusal to accept the status quo. Between my work as a 500 GT Master, 2nd Mate Unlimited, and PMP, and Jennifer’s tireless leadership running her salon, our non-profit, our church facility, and maintaining food certifications, we know what it takes to build something real. We serve as director of InnerBeautyMinistry and I lead as president of Rotary 6950 E Club, but our greatest achievement isn’t found in our titles. It’s found in our home.
We successfully raised our children through high school without a single teenage pregnancy, and today, they are highly productive, working members of society. They didn’t just get by; they graduated at the top of their classes. We proudly watched them walk the stages at Withlacoochee and Tasha Hair Academy, entering the workforce with unmatched skill and discipline. And our youngest took her talents all the way to Berklee, making the Dean’s List in her very first year.
But our definition of family doesn’t stop at our own kids. In a community heavily burdened by broken homes and abandoned seniors, Jennifer and I stepped up to create a unique blended family model. We don’t just hold the sterile title of “foster parents.” We provide a permanent sanctuary, offering unconditional belonging to those the system has left behind.
That protective drive is exactly why Jennifer and I both ran against the political machine for Citrus County Commissioner. We ran on a platform of transparency, responsible growth management, and an end to the endless flip-flop decisions hurting everyday residents. As a civic leader, I know the profound impact we can have when we empower genuine community voices. Instead, we see the same insiders boasting about their inside knowledge of county politics, while poor neighborhoods continue to decline and violent crimes tied to untreated mental health issues spread.
There are far too many local title-holders who just want to showboat on magazine covers, claiming they aren’t political while spending their time swapping favors in the same old civic group drinking clubs. I don’t drink, and I absolutely refuse to participate in a fool’s folly. Because I wouldn’t play their game, I definitely lost the fools’ vote, and the establishment candidate won. But I kept my integrity.
I will gladly take the extra hours and the long hitches working away from home on the water. That sacrifice directly funds our mission. It allows me to help more of our community members experience true freedom, real choices, and a life free from oppressive local overreach. It is exactly what allows my dad to live quietly and peacefully on his own property in his trailer home, completely undisturbed. I work away so my family and my community can stand strong at home.
