The PhD promise

The Doctorate in the Oval Office: Only one U.S. president in history ever held an earned academic doctorate (Ph.D.): Woodrow Wilson (in history and political science from Johns Hopkins). His predecessor in that progressive era, Theodore Roosevelt, attended Columbia Law School but dropped out to enter public service, holding only an undergraduate degree from Harvard. Wilson brought towering academic credentials and grand, high-minded theories, yet his presidency left behind rigid dogmatism, severe civil liberties crackdowns, and a League of Nations structure that collapsed under its own ideological weight. TR, operating on raw practical vigor, civic duty, and real-world grit, remains widely recognized as the far more dynamic and effective executive.
