🇺🇸 We Will Never Forget – Citrus County Remembers 9/11

Paul M. Grogan – Candidate for Citrus County Commissioner, District 5

A Message from Paul Grogan

My heart ❤️ goes out to the faith-based families who have lost loved ones while serving others and working to bring about a spiritual awakening in our nation. Their sacrifice is a reminder that our freedoms—including free speech and the right to live out our faith—must always be defended.

On September 11, 2001, those who attacked us wanted to silence America. Instead, they awakened the giant within.

Here in Citrus County, we gather each year at Liberty Park in Inverness and other community spaces to honor the fallen, support our first responders, and remind one another that freedom will always prevail.

Florida Law:

📜 “September 11th shall be observed in Florida public schools and institutions with a moment of silence to honor the victims and heroes of that day.”

— Florida Statute §1003.44

Citrus County Ordinances:

⚖️ Chapter 18 of the Citrus County Code empowers our community to prepare for disasters, strengthen public safety, and support volunteer service. These are tools we can use to build resilience and honor the legacy of those who gave all.

America’s Strength

Even as immigration policies tightened after 9/11, the long-term trend shows that immigration grew. This demonstrates that we are not afraid—and that America remains a beacon of freedom and opportunity for the world.

Our Local Commitment

Citrus County recognizes 9/11 as not only a national day of remembrance but a local call to action. Together, we will never forget, and we will never stop moving forward—rooted in faith, united in purpose, and committed to a stronger, safer, freer Citrus County.
